Heppner Elementary SchoolHeppner Elementary and Heppner High School are two of seven schools in the Morrow County School District, which serves 2,400 students in four communities: Heppner, Lexington, Irrigon, and Boardman. Heppner High School houses 190 students in grades 7-12. All curriculums meet or exceed the state requirements for public education. Heppner High boasts a high graduation rate, with a high percentage of students attending post-secondary education. In 2001, Heppner High School graduated 100% of the seniors, with 96% of them continuing their educational program at a two or four year institution of higher learning.

In addition, 62% received their Certificate of Initial Mastery. Heppner High School is one of only fifty Oregon schools to receive an overall rating of “Exceptional” on the 2001 Oregon Report Card.

Heppner Elementary School provides an excellent education to 215 students in grades K-6. Heppner Elementary teachers are a veteran staff, averaging fourteen years of experience. HES offers many educational opportunities that include Booster Reading Class, Monthly Student Body Assemblies, Accelerated Reader Program, and Parent Teacher Club. HES received the highest rating of “Exceptional” on the 2002 Oregon Report Card.

Heppner High School has a strong winning tradition in sports, and currently offers football, volleyball, basketball, track, baseball, softball, and golf. HHS is a 2A classification school under the Oregon School Activities Association and is a member of the Columbia Basin Conference.

District citizens have a long tradition of supporting their schools, both financially and through personal involvement. Patrons just recently passed a $22-million bond to repair existing buildings and to build new schools, including a new gym and cafeteria at Heppner Elementary School.
